About Amba

Amba Greene has been exploring and teaching holistic health and nutrition for over 30 years. With friends, she opened the first natural foods restaurant and food co-op in upstate New York in the early 1970's and since then has personally practiced, taught and cooked in many of the different dietary perspectives from both the western and eastern traditions.

With this understanding of "food as medicine"  she continued her exploration of food, diet, and  holistic health. Her journey brought her to many different teachers and teachings; to many diverse cultures and traditions; and to a wide range of healing art modalities.

When introduced to Ayurveda, the ancient holistic health system from India, she immediately knew that this tradition of health and wellness encompassed all of her deepest passions.

Amba is a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Educator who has trained with the foremost teachers and doctors teaching in the west today including Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Dr. John Douillard, Dr. Sunil Joshi, Dr. Jay Apte and Dr. Shekhar Annambhotla.

Ayurveda is based on the understanding that each of us has a unique, one-of-a-kind fundamental constitution, that when in balance, creates the foundation for health and when out of balance, leads to physical and mental symptoms that inevitably manifest as disease.

Working with the understanding that a few small changes can make a huge difference, Amba individually customizes programs that involve food recommendations, daily living routines, herbs, massage and body treatments, skin care, exercise, breathing techniques, relaxation, stress management and sense therapies.

As a Licensed Massage Therapist, she is excited to offer the wealth of Ayurvedic Body Treatments and Therapies, such as shirodhara, abhyanga, swedana and more from her Vero Beach, Florida office.

Amba is certified with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher. She is a Senior Kali Natha Yoga Instructor and a long-time student of the American-born Spiritual Teacher and Yoga Master, Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati, of Kashi Ashram, Sebastian, Florida, where she continues her advanced training.

After having been introduced to chanting and kirtan in New York City in 1975 by Krishna Das and Bhagavan Das, she traveled extensively in India in 1978 and immersed herself in the sounds of this ancient art. As the head kirtan wala of Kashi Ashram, she is in charge of kirtan for all the weekly gatherings, holy days and festivals. She executive produced and performed on the Kashi Ashram CD, "Songs of the River.". Since 1998, she has studied Sound and its Healing Potential with Pandit Mukesh Desai, foremost disciple of the great North Indian classical singer, Pandit Jasraj.

It has been her pleasure to share yoga, sound, chanting, meditation, wellness, whole foods, natural cooking and conscious living in classes and workshops locally, around the country and abroad.

As an educator and advocate for healthy living, Amba has written numerous articles and appeared on radio shows. As an extension of her Ayurvedic consulting practice, she teaches a cooking class series: "Cooking with the Seasons."
